Prize Money for 2011

First place in each class - $75
Second Place in each class - $60
Third Place in each class - $45

All others who register with their own tractor/horse(s) and have their plowing judged will receive $20 gas expense money.  Any additional plowmen using the same equipment do not receive the $20

There is no charge for registration.

Insurance

All contestants must show proof of insurance liability coverage of at least $2,000,000
Insurance company name and policy number must be provided.  If a contestant is using another persons equipment, it is the owner that must have the insurance and it is the contestants responsibility to show proof of this insurance coverage.  Contestants failing to show proof of liability insurance coverage will not be allowed to plow.

Horses

1)  One-furrow walking plow

2)  One-furrow riding plow

Tractors

3)   Youth under 17, non-competition plow, 1st year

4)   Youth under 17, non-competition plow, experienced

5)   Two furrow competition plow, under 16 years

6)   Two furrow completion plow, 17 years and over

7)   Ladies, any style plow

8)   Open.  Two or more furrows, non-competition plow

9)   Antique class.  Tractor and plow 25 years and older

10) RENFREW COUNTY ONLY!  Conventional plowing (no open split)

EXPLANATION OF SCORE CARD POINTS (as taken from the Official Score Card)

HALF POINTS TO BE USED IN SCORING IN THE EVENT OF A TIE

CROWN: - three rounds. Horse plowing 6 furrows. Tractor plowing 12 furrows.

Split - all sod, weeds, etc., cut so that no uncut area remains under crown furrows.

Straightness and uniformity - all furrows in the crown to be straight and uniform and to CONFORM TO THE REST OF THE PLOWlNG.

SEED BED:
Firmness - the furrows should be firm against one another so that they do not break down or collapse.

Packing or closeness - the furrows should be well packed and closed with no openings between furrows.

Depth - should be as specified. Three points off each 1" shallower than specified minimum. Depth should reflect the type of soil to ensure the best seed bed.

FINISH:
Straightness and Neatness - finish should be straight and free from loose soil, weeds, etc..

Depth and Width - depth should not exceed the average depth of plowing in the field, the complete sole furrow should be lifted.

GENERAL APPEARANCE:
Burying Grass and Stubble - all grass, stubble and weeds must be completely buried.

Straightness and Uniformity of Furrows - all furrows should be straight and of uniform depth and width and must conform to each other.

Shape of Land - the proper relationship of crown to body of land to finish.

lns and Outs - all soil inside of scratch furrows should be turned with a minimum amount of head land being disturbed by the plow.


THE COMPLETE LAND MUST BE PLOWED KEEPING IN MIND SOIL AVAILABILITY


A CONTESTANT MAY BE PENALIZED FOR ANY OF THE FOLLOWING INFRACTIONS
1. finishing the wrong way - penalty 10 points
2. not completing the land allotted for plowing - penalty max. 1O points
3. damaging neighbouring contestant's plowing - penalty max. 1O points
4. two wheel marks on the land - penalty 2 to 5 points
